My name is Keith Cartwright.
When I look back on my life, I can see a journey to discovering my journey is a shared one. We are all here to weather life together. From the earliest seconds of my life, I was dependent on the nuturing and care of another to survive. In the earliest seconds of my life, that unknowingly became my definition for love. Today I know, we all depend on love to survive. I spent 13 years working in a therapeutic wilderness program - Eckerd Youth Alternatives (Eckerd Connects). There, young people told me hundreds of stories about life without love. In their stories, I began to discover the powerful healing effects love can have on a traumatized life. These days, I lead an effort in the state of Virginia to build awareness around the impacts of adverse early childhood experiences. I am an ACE Interface Master Trainer - trained by Dr. Robert Anda - a principal investigator in the original adverse childhood experiences study. It's the quality and not the quantity of our relationships that set the course of our lives. It's the quality and not the quantity of our relationships that bring hope and healing over the course of our lives. Life is not a you thing. Or a me thing. Life is a we thing. |
